August 5, 2022•Diageo-owned Haig Club Scotch whisky has unveiled Clubman Canned Cocktails. Made with a base of Haig Club Clubman Whisky, soda, and natural flavors, the pre-mixed effervescent drinks are available in Ginger Lime & Soda and Citrus Yuzu & Soda. Designed in partnership with Haig Club brand partner and Inter Miami CF (IMCF) co-owner David Beckham, they’re meant to evoke “the vibrancy of Miami,” according to the company. Available now in South Florida, the canned cocktails are sold individually and in packs of four with suggested retail prices of $4 and $15 respectively.
•Texas retailer Spec’s has signed on with Provi, making the chain’s entire portfolio available to bars and restaurants throughout the state through the business-to-business e-commerce player’s online platform. Initially, Spec’s and Provi will choose select on-premise accounts to test the platform ahead of a full rollout this fall. With this move, Spec’s is joining roughly 1,400 other organizations in using Provi’s platform.
•Energy drink company Monster Beverage, of which Coca-Cola is a major shareholder, is gearing up to launch new flavored malt beverages in the fourth quarter under a brand called The Beast Unleashed. They will be at 6% abv and will initially be available in four flavors. The Beast Unleashed will launch through beer distributors, utilizing a phased state launch approach, with the goal of being national by the end of 2023, according to the company. The Beast Unleashed will initially be offered in 16-ounce single serve cans and a variety pack of 12-ounce sleek cans. Earlier this year, rumors swirled that Constellation and Monster were in talks toward a $90 billion merger. In an S4 filing this week, Constellation referred to “a potential strategic transaction” that in the end was not pursued. There’s now speculation that the transaction in question was a tie-up with Monster.
•Infinium Spirits has appointed Eric Griffin as senior vice president of sales. Griffin comes to the role with 13 years of experience in the industry, including seven years with Infinium. Prior to his promotion, he was working as Infinium’s vice president of sales for the northeast and national accounts. Beyond his time with Infinium, Griffin has also worked at Gallo Winery.
•Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) has named Troy Mollohan as SVP, supplier business development, Wine. Mollohan will be responsible for initiatives related to sales strategy and execution for some key wine suppliers, as well as enhancing sales performance. He reports to Scott Lammert, EVP of supplier business development, Wine & Spirits. Mollohan joined RNDC in 2018 as a vice president, supplier business development, and previously served with Gallo and Johnson Brothers.
