Beam Suntory Posts 13% Sales Jump In The First Half

August 10, 2022

Beam Suntory saw global sales growth 13% in its fiscal first half ended in June, boosted by “stronger-than-expected demand in key markets and excellent performance for premium brands,” according to the company. Sales rose 25% in the first half of this year compared with the same period in pre-pandemic 2019.

Beam Suntory saw double-digit growth across a number key global markets, including the U.S., where the company recently upped its alliance with leading distributor Southern Glazer’s to 43 markets nationally. Overall North America sales grew by 13%.

Maker’s Mark and Basil Hayden Bourbons drove growth for the company in the first half with strong double-digit gains, alongside The House of Suntory’s Roku Gin and Toki Japanese Whisky. Yamazaki, Knob Creek, Laphroaig, Bowmore, and El Tesoro Tequila were also up double-digits, while ready-to-serve cocktail brand On The Rocks doubled its sales.

“The fact that we were able to deliver these strong results in a challenging period underscores the resilience of our markets, quality of our brands, and the significant impact of our premiumization strategy,” said Beam Suntory president and CEO Albert Baladi. “We expect that the external environment will be even more challenging in the second half of the year and into 2023, and we are well positioned to deliver against both our short- and long-term ambitions through the strategies we have in place, and investments we’re making in our future.” The company added that it will complete the relocation of its global headquarters to New York City in September.—Daniel Marsteller
