News Alert: Diageo North America Names Gregorio Gutierrez President of U.S. Spirits

Diageo North America has named Gregorio Gutierrez president of U.S. Spirits. Based in New York, Gregorio will report to Claudia Schubert and joins the North America executive team. Schubert was previously named president of Diageo North America, effective in October. According to Impact Databank, Diageo is the largest U.S. spirits supplier at 41 million cases in 2021, accounting for nearly 15% of the total market by volume.

Since joining Diageo in 2007, Gutierrez has held various strategic, commercial, and general management roles worldwide. He has led Diageo’s businesses across Latin America and in Europe, and is credited with “creating a strong track record for leading transformative growth and building high performing teams and cultures in multiple markets.”

Most recently Gutierrez has been managing director of Southern Europe, responsible for a cluster of countries including Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and France. According to the company, he and his team have delivered strong performance with significant share gains and have accelerated sales and profit growth.

Gutierrez will be based in New York from November 1st, but will commence his transition through September and October.—Daniel Marsteller
