DISCUS: Luxury Brands Continue To Rise

October 20, 2022

Luxury spirits continue to grow in the U.S., despite the tightening economy, according to the DISCUS Luxury Brands Index. Luxury brands were up 23% in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2021. Tequila and American whiskies were the big winners, with the Mexican import up 43% and the domestic spirit rising 30%. Additionally, Scotch and Irish whiskies and Cognac continued to increase, with only Japanese whisky flat in the LBI’s measures. The quarterly rise is in line with the LBI’s study of the last five years, when the luxury categories measured rose 24% annually from 2017 to 2022.—Shane English
