•Industry veteran Antonio “Nino” Magliocco Jr. has passed away after a four-year battle with lung cancer. He was 69. Magliocco was president and CEO of Bulldog Ventures, Ltd, and vice chairman of Quaker Equities, Ltd. In 2007, his family’s Peerless Importers partnered with Charmer Industries to form New York wholesale giant Empire Merchants, whose revenues are projected at $1.8 billion this year. Magliocco is survived by his wife Carla Solomon, his two brothers John and Joe, three children, and three grandchildren.

•Bacardi-owned Bombay Sapphire has partnered with the family of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat to release a new limited-edition bottle featuring the late artist’s work. The bottle features an early Basquiat, “Untitled (LA Painting)” on its label, which was originally exhibited during the artist’s second show. The limited edition bottling retails for a suggested price of $24 a 750-ml. and is now available in select markets across the U.S. and through ReserveBar.

•Champagne Henriot is introducing a new collection, L’Inattendue (French for “the Unexpected”), dedicated to showcasing one of the house’s Grand Cru vineyards in a single year. The first L’Inattendue (retailing at $155), which will be available in limited quantities in the U.S. beginning in November, highlights the Grand Cru Chardonnay Avize in the Côte des Blancs and the 2016 vintage. The portfolio of importer Maisons & Domaines Henriot America also includes William Fèvre (Chablis, Burgundy), Bouchard Père et Fils (Burgundy), Beaux Frères (Oregon), and Tenuta di Ghizzano (Tuscany).Vintage Wine

•The Boston Beer Company has entered the Tequila-based RTD market with Loma Vista, a new line of flavored Tequila sodas. The 5.5% abv drinks are made with Blanco Tequila, lime juice, soda water, and other flavors. The initial lineup comes in two flavors—Lime and Mango—both available in 4-packs of 12-ounce cans. Loma Vista is now available in select markets across the U.S. with expanded availability planned for near future.

•Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has named Jefferey Lightfoot as the distributor’s new vice president, general manager, Alaska. Lightfoot comes to this role with nearly 30 years of industry experience and has worked at SGWS and Alaskan distributor Odom Corporation since 2012. In his new role, he will report to John Klein, executive vice president, general manager, Pacific Northwest.

•Santa Rosa, California’s Vintage Wine Estates has promoted Jessica Kogan, naming her the company’s chief growth and experience officer. Kogan joined VWE back in 2017 and, since 2019, has served as Vintage’s chief digital officer and CMO. In her new expanded role, Kogan is charged with building stronger relationships with consumers and guide the company’s digital transformations. Prior to her time in the wine industry, Kogan helped launch digital brands and initiatives like Schwab.com and the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Tolerance.org.
