•The 2022 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, Glenmorangie A Tale of the Forest, and newcomers from Macallan and Nikka are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest weekly roundup. The magazine’s website has all the details.
•Australian distiller Starward, part of the Diageo-backed Distill Ventures portfolio, is launching limited edition single malt Vitalis in the U.S.. Coinciding with the brand’s 15th anniversary, the 52% abv whisky is blended from parcels aged in Tawny Port barrels, rum barrels, Bourbon barrels and Apera (Australian sherry) barrels, filled between 2011 and 2018. The whisky is now available for preorder through the distillery’s website for $150 a 700-ml. bottle.
•Napa, California’s Hundred Acre Winery has promoted Landon Patterson to CEO, amid a host of executive appointments. Patterson joined Hundred Acre in 2011 and served as vice president of sales and chief revenue officer before taking this new role. Nicole Kilbourne, previously production manager, has been named as chief operations officer after 10 years with the company. In addition, Tory Sims, formerly of Ovid, Frank Family Vineyards, and others, as been named CFO, and Burges Smith has been appointed director of client services. The new executive team will be responsible for launching Fortunate Son and Summer Dreams, two new labels focusing on Napa Valley and Sonoma County wines respectively.
•In partnership Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, the Terlato Vineyards Legacy Program again established a challenge with Terlato Vineyards Pinot Grigio this year to fund a charity effort in honor of the late Tony Terlato. With 24 markets competing to deliver the best performance on the brand, the competition was won by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of Illinois for the second year in a row. Their efforts delivered a $40,000 donation to the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (IRAEF).
