•Several of Argentina’s leading wine regions were devastated by consecutive days of widespread freezing conditions recently, impacting tens of thousands of acres of vines throughout the country. At a time when nearly all vineyards were budding and many were beginning to flower, it was a particularly unfavorable time for a cold snap. In some areas, temperatures plummeted to the low 20s. Magdalena Pesce, general manager at Wines of Argentina, said numerous winery representatives believe it’s still too early to have accurate data but estimates an average loss of 32 percent of yields nationwide. “We have to wait to see how the plants react,” she said. Wine Spectator has the full story.

•RNDC and LibDib have announced LibDib@RNDC GA, a new RNDC sales division within the state of Georgia. LibDib@RNDC GA brings LibDib’s platform-based distribution model to the state, allowing all compliant wine and spirits suppliers to secure wholesale distribution. To start, LibDib@RNDC GA is opening to a select group of both LibDib and RNDC wine and spirits suppliers. The sales division will then open the market to all suppliers in the coming months. LibDib’s footprint now reaches 14 states. More LibDib@RNDC markets are expected to be added soon.

•Infinium Spirits’ Templeton has announced a new release, 2022 Stout Cask Finish, this year’s entry in the brand’s Barrel Finish Series. The whiskey, bottled at 46% abv, matures for six years in new oak before being transferred to stout casks to finish for three months. It’s the fourth release in the Barrel Finish Series and follow’s 2021’s Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish, 2020’s the Caribbean Rum Cask Finish, and the Maple Cask Finish Series from 2019. The whiskey is now available in limited quantities across the U.S. for a suggested price of $55 a 750-ml.

•Pernod Ricard is extending its TX brand with a new flavored series. It kicks off with a new bottling infused with coffee from Fort Worth-based Avoca Coffee Roasters. The 70 proof offering is limited to 1,500 bottles retailing at $40 a 375-ml. and selling at TX’s Whiskey Ranch in Fort Worth. TX is part of Pernod’s American Whiskey Collective, which also includes Jefferson’s, Rabbit Hole, and Smooth Ambler.

•Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has appointed John Aiello to the role of vice president, general manager, Delaware. Aiello, who reports to Patrick Pokorny, vice president and general manager for Maryland and Washington, D.C, is responsible for leading all sales activities in the Delaware market. Aiello, a 33-year industry veteran who’s been with SGWS Delaware for 15 years, was most recently division director, off-premise channel.
