Hotaling Moves Into National Alliance With Southern Glazer’s

November 23, 2022

Hotaling & Co. the San Francisco-based artisanal spirits company, has expanded its partnership with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (SGWS) from the current 28 markets to 43 markets, effectively creating a national footprint with the U.S. market’s number-one distributor.

Some important Hotaling markets will now come into SGWS fold, including Florida, Louisiana, Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky. Hotaling will remain with existing partners in Kansas, Wisconsin, Missouri, Georgia, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Tennessee. The transition begins on December 1, with the official handover taking place January 1.

Founded in 1993 as Anchor Distilling by Fritz Maytag, Hotaling was acquired by Tony Foglio and Berry Bros & Rudd in 2010, and today has a portfolio of owned brands that includes Old Potrero and Hirsch whiskies as well as Junipero gin. Its imported spirits lineup is led by Nikka Japanese whisky, Walsh Whiskey, Hine Cognac, and the Luxardo cordials line. Hotaling historically has focused on building its brands in the on-premise, but more recently it has moved to expand the off-premise side as well. Greater access to the SGWS National Accounts division will be a key catalyst in that effort.
