Exclusive: Teremana Tequila Names Richard Black As CEODecember 8, 2022
Teremana Tequila has named industry veteran Richard Black as chief executive. Black is a former vice president of marketing for the U.S. at Campari, and also helped scale the early growth of Westward Whiskey, part of the Diageo-backed Distill Ventures portfolio. In his new role, Black will look to drive further expansion for Teremana, which is projected to deplete 900,000 cases this year on approximately 50% growth.
Teremana was created by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jenna Fagnan, Ken Austin, and Dany Garcia. Made in collaboration with third-generation agave growers and distillers the Lopez family, Teremana also counts Mast-Jägermeister as global strategic partner and co-owner.
“Demand is far outpacing available supply due to capacity constraints at Destilería Teremana de Agave where the focus is on creating the highest quality Tequila to deliver an ultra-premium product at an accessible price point,” the company told SND.
“It’s been both humbling and exciting to witness the tremendous success of our Teremana Tequila as it continues to achieve record-breaking milestones in North America,” said Johnson. “As we evolve our business and expand our distillery, we are proud to add proven industry leader, Richard Black, to our Teremana team as our new CEO. It’s with gratitude and mana that we take this exciting next leap forward with Richard as we expand Teremana into a global Tequila brand.”Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
