•Bacardi has announced a $19 million investment in its Aultmore Distillery, with plans to double the facility’s capacity by 2024. The investment will add new fermenters, pot-stills, and infrastructure to the distillery, as well as a new heat recovery system that will reduce energy costs and make the entire distillery more green. The announcement also marks the 125th anniversary of Aultmore. The brand is one of Bacardi’s five single malts—the others being Aberfeldy, Royal Brackla, Craigellachie, and Macduff—used to make both Dewar’s blends as well as standalone releases from the distilleries.

•Maison Ferrand is rolling out a new limited edition Cognac, Ferrand Cognac 10 Générations Port Cask Year of the Rabbit. The 44% abv Cognac is distilled from Ugni Blanc grapes and, after its initial maturation, is finished in Port casks before bottling. The new Cognac carries a suggested price of $55, with 12,000 bottles available in select retailers across the U.S.

•Dingle Distillery, located in the eponymous city in County Kerry, Ireland, is launching its Dingle Single Malt Whiskey in the U.S. The release is the distillery’s first core expression and is made from liquid matured in Bourbon and PX sherry casks for six to seven years. Dingle Single Malt is bottled at 46.3% abv for an initial run of 50,000 bottles, with Dingle aiming to double that by this time next year. Imported by San Francisco-based Hotaling & Co., the new release is available in 15 markets as well as online for a suggested $100 a 750-ml.

•Miami, Florida-based passion fruit liqueur brand Chinola made two adjustments to its leadership, naming co-founder Andrew Merinoff as CEO and Filipe Carvalho as COO. In addition to co-founding Chinola, Merinoff has a history in the finance world as founder of venture capital firm DisPact Ventures and has also consulted for Proximo on its new Great Jones Distillery in Manhattan. Carvalho is a veteran of the wine and spirits industry, having previously overseen distribution and production for Portuguese wine producer Sogrape, as well as served in roles at Diageo and Stoli Group. Chinola was founded in 2015 and expanded to national distribution approximately one year ago.
