•Livermore, California-based Wente Vineyards announced the installation of its first entirely new bottling line since its 1883 founding. The new bottling line was designed for energy efficiency and accommodates lighter, lower impact glass for all new bottlings, reducing the weight of each bottle by one-third. Other sustainability features include the ability to recover heating energy and rinse water for reuse. Founded in 1883, Wente Vineyards is the oldest continuously operated, family owned winery in the country.

•Iowa’s Cedar Ridge has launched The QuintEssential First Fill Sherry Cask, a new limited edition American single malt. The whiskey is bottled at cask strength—56.3% abv in this case—and first matured Cedar Ridge’s Bourbon barrels before being transferred to a 132 gallon Sherry butt selected by Cedar Ridge master blender Murphy Quint. The release is limited to the brand’s home market where 594 750-ml. bottles will be available for a suggested price of $100 a bottle.

•New Orleans, Louisiana-based Sidewalk Side Spirits is launching Hardhide Ponchatoula Strawberry Whiskey. The new release is a blend of 3-year wheat Bourbon, American light whiskey, Cocktail & Son’s Lemon Strawberry Syrup, and Ponchatoula strawberries. It’s blended at 34% abv at the Porchjam Distillery in New Orleans. For now, it will be distributed by RNDC in Louisiana, Texas, Florida, and Georgia and by Best Brands in Tennessee. Additional states are planned for next year. Sidewalk Side Spirits is a spirits brand incubator founded in 2020.
