•Austin, Texas-based Austin Eastciders is launching Imperial Gold Cider. The new introduction to the cidery’s lineup is at 8.3% and marks the first installment in an Imperial Cider line that will continue next year. Imperial Gold is a spin on the company’s Original Dry cider, featuring the same apple blend that includes selections from Normandy and Brittany and the Pacific Northwest. Imperial Gold is available now in Texas, New York, and the greater Washington DC metro area.

•New Orleans, Louisiana-based Urban South Brewery is releasing a trio of sour beers to celebrate Mardi Gras. The three Carnival Time labels are made in collaboration with the James Beard Award-winning Dong Phuong Bakery in New Orleans, which is known for its king cakes. To that end each of the three beers is modeled after and brewed with one of the bakery’s king cakes: Carnival Time Sour Ale with King Cake is based on its cinnamon and cream cheese king cake, along with the self-evident Carnival Time Sour Ale with Strawberry Filled King Cake, and Sour Ale with Coconut Cream King Cake. All three are at 4.6% abv; the first is available next week in 16-ounce cans throughout Urban South’s distribution area while the latter two are taproom exclusives.
