•The GlenDronach, part of the Brown-Forman portfolio, has announced the eleventh edition of the distillery’s cask strength Highland single malt Scotch whisky. This edition comes in at 59.8% abv and matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks selected and blended by master blender Rachel Barrie. The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 11 carries a suggested price of $100 and is rolling out across the U.S. now.
•The FTC has finalized its order holding Drizly accountable for security failures that led to a data breach exposing the personal information of about 2.5 million consumers. Originally announced in October, the order says Drizly must destroy any personal data not necessary for it to provide products and services to consumers and publicly detail on its website the information it collects moving forward, as well as administering new security safeguards. Additionally, CEO Cory Rellas must implement an information security program at future companies if he moves to a business collecting consumer information from more than 25,000 individuals, and where he is a majority owner, CEO, or senior officer with information security responsibilities.
•The U.K.’s The Lakes Distillery has appointed Sarah Burgess, former lead whisky maker at Macallan, as its new whisky maker. Founded in 2011, The Lakes is known for its sherry cask matured English single malt whiskies. She succeeds Dhavall Gandhi who now runs his own whisky consultancy, and Burgess will be responsible for all whisky making operations and the development of the whisky making team.
