Seattle Retailer Downtown Spirits In Expansion Mode

Seattle, Washington retailer Downtown Spirits, led by Market Watch Leader Marques Warren, has announced plans to purchase Esquin Wine & Spirits, located in Seattle’s Sodo district, for an undisclosed sum.

The move, subject to the approval of the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, would greatly increase the number of wines offered by Downtown, while also allowing the retailer to improve delivery operations. Downtown has emphasized its delivery business, which accounts for 40% of its sales and includes orders purchased via its own website, the Drizly platform, and the store’s corporate account program.

Adding Esquin’s inventory would allow Downtown to sell 5,400 wine and 1,200 spirits SKUs in total. “Our purchase of Esquin is part of Downtown Spirits’ commitment to connecting customers with an expansive range of fine wines and the most knowledgeable sales team in the region,” said Warren.—Shane English
