Evaton Debuts New Blends For Silk & Spice, As Brand Crests 100,000 Cases

January 23, 2023

Connecticut-based Evaton, a subsidiary of Portugal’s Sogrape, is extending its Silk & Spice wine brand with three new blends. The move comes following a successful year for Silk & Spice—an Impact “Hot Prospect”—which crossed the 100,000-case mark in 2022.

The newcomers include Silk & Spice White Blend, a mix of Bical, Arinto, and Alvarinho; Silk Route, made of Tinta Roriz, Baga, and Merlot and billed as the smoothest red blend in the portfolio; and Spice Road, described as the boldest of the new offerings and composed of Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, and Touriga Nacional.

All three new Silk & Spice wines retail at $14. They’re launching next month in Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Texas, and Wisconsin, with a national rollout slated for July. Launched in 2016, the Silk & Spice brand features indigenous Portuguese grapes and pays homage to the Portuguese sailors who started the silk and spice trade routes from the Far East to the rest of the world during the Age of Discovery.—Daniel Marsteller
