•Constellation-owned Simi is launching its first low-calorie and low-alcohol wine, Brightful Chardonnay. At 80 calories per serving, the newcomer is bottled at 9% abv and is rolling out nationally to retailers as well as on Drizly and Instacart. Simi Brightful Chardonnay carries a suggested retail price of $15. Simi was at 532,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.

•Independent Scotch bottler Compass Box has announced Delos, the company’s first release for 2023 and a reimagining of a discontinued Compass Box whisky. The new whisky is bottled at 49% abv and is made from malts distilled at Glen Elgin, Imperial, and Miltonduff blended with grain whiskies, creating a whisky that the company says is a reimagining of Asyla, a label taken off the market in 2018. Compass Box Delos carries a suggested price of $325 a bottle, with 5,520 bottles hitting shelves around the world in February.

•Salinas, California’s Scheid Family Wines posted overall revenue rise 18% to $51.2 million for the first nine months of fiscal year 2023. Cased goods sales were up by 26% to $35.1 million. In addition to seeing revenues rise, Scheid increased its sales and marketing spend by 29% to just under $10 million. Known for its Sunny With A Chance Of Flowers brand, Scheid also announced the debut of a new label, Grandeur Wines, in recent days. It includes a a Red Blend and a Rosé retailing at $23 and $20 respectively.

•Fort Collins, Colorado’s Old Elk Distillery has released Straight Rye Whiskey Rum Cask Finish, the latest addition to the distillery’s Cask Finish series. The 50.5% abv rye ages at least five years before finishing in Barbados rum casks for an additional six months. This release follows Port and Cognac cask finished Bourbons and is the first rye in the series. All three whiskies in the series carry a suggested price of $100 a bottle and are currently rolling out to retailers across the U.S. through Southern Glazer’s.

•Copalli Spirits, known for it namesake rum from Belize, has appointed Brian Baker as CMO and Scott Shaw as head of sales. Baker has held leadership roles at Mayacamas Vineyards, Chateau Montelena, and Jackson Family Wines. Shaw has held leadership roles with Pernod Ricard, Proximo Spirits, and Anheuser-Busch InBev, among others. Copalli Rums are available in White, Barrel Rested, and Cacao expressions and sold through retailers, bars, and restaurants in Florida, California, New York, Hawaii, and online.
