Drizly, Gopuff Partner Across 26 States, In Significant E-Commerce Expansion

February 1, 2023

E-commerce platforms Drizly and Gopuff announced a new partnership, bringing Gopuff’s Liquor & More—including subsidiaries Liquor Barn and BevMo—to the Drizly platform, effective immediately. The new partnership covers 26 states including Florida, Texas, New York, Indiana, Ohio, and North Carolina, among others. Financials weren’t disclosed.

“Drizly’s infrastructure for alcohol e-commerce coupled with Gopuff’s network of commerce locations will extend the ease of on-demand delivery of beer, wine, and spirits nationwide and help even more customers of legal drinking age shop the best drinks for the moment,” said Blaine Grinna, Drizly’s senior director of retail ops. This is the second partnership between Gopuff and Drizly’s parent company Uber, which acquired the e-commerce player in 2021 for $1.1 billion; the same year, Gopuff’s inventory became available on the UberEats app.

In addition to adding its inventory to Drizly, Gopuff has also added new locations of BevMo and Liquor Barn to its quick-service program, including the company’s native app and through Drizly. The company added nearly 20 BevMo locations to its on-demand program, notably expanding into Arizona and Washington, while Liquor Barn increased its on-demand availability across Kentucky.

As of last fall, Gopuff held alcohol retail licences in 91 of the 115 markets it operated in. “Gopuff is fully vertically integrated; everything is fully controlled by the company, and we partner with the entire three-tier system,” said co-founder Yakir Gola at the Impact Marketing Seminar. He added that the company now adds around 450 new beverage alcohol brands to its assortment each year, and is expanding into more markets. The alignment with Drizly—backed by Uber—figures to further that expansion.—Shane English
