February 23, 2023•Bombay Sapphire, part of the Bacardi portfolio, has unveiled Premier Cru Murcia Lemon, a new offering infused with Murcia Fino lemons from Spain. Rolling out now in select markets with national distribution slated for later this spring, the newcomer retails at $35 a 750-ml. It’s recommended to be served in cocktails like the Martini and French 75.
•Ireland’s Walsh Whiskey is debuting its first single pot still expression. Writers’ Tears Single Pot Still was triple-distilled and initially matured in Bourbon barrels. It was then further matured in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks from Spain and Florio Marsala Hogsheads from Sicily, before being cut at 46% abv. Writers’ Tears Single Pot Still Whiskey is a limited-edition expression, with some 3,000 bottles available at an SRP of $80 in 15 states. The brand is imported by Hotaling & Co.
•Brown-Forman is reintroducing Benriach The Sixteen to the brand’s core lineup. After being retired in 2016, the 16-year-old Speyside single malt Scotch whisky is now returning with a new recipe. Benriach The Sixteen is triple-cask matured for at least 16 years in Bourbon barrels, Sherry, and virgin oak casks. It’s bottled at 43% abv and is launching at select retailers this month, selling at around $115.
•Texas-based Lone River Beverage Co., part of the Diageo stable, is launching a Ranch Rita Variety Pack. Made with organic agave nectar and real lime juice, the variety pack serves up three new flavors—Mango Ranch Rita, Blood Orange Ranch Rita, and Spicy Ranch Rita—along with the existing Classic Ranch Rita. Debuting nationwide, Lone River Ranch Rita Variety Pack is canned at 6% abv and sells in 12-packs.
•Edrington has announced a new 54-year-old whisky from Orkney single malt Highland Park. The whisky, the oldest ever released from the distillery, is bottled at 46.9% abv and blended from four refill butts and six refill hogsheads from 1968. In 2008, the whiskies were transferred to European oak Sherry butts where they matured an additional 14 years before bottling. Only 225 bottles—celebrating the distillery’s 225th anniversary—will be released, with each carrying a suggested price of $54,000 a bottle.
