February 27, 2023•Midleton Very Rare Vintage 2023, Michter’s 10 Year Old Single Barrel (2023 Release), and newcomers from Benriach and Yellowstone are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest weekly roundup. Here are all the details.
•Castle Brands, part of Pernod Ricard, has announced Method and Madness Rye and Malt Irish whiskey, a new release created at Irish Distillers. The whiskey is distilled from a mash of 60% rye and 40% malted barley aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and bottled at 46% abv. The new release is from Irish Distillers’ micro distillery, which opened six years ago, and will be exclusively available in the U.S. Only 5,000 bottles will be released in select markets across the U.S., with each carrying a suggested price of $80 a 700-ml.
•New York City-based RTD brand Margs has expanded its distribution footprint, entering Illinois, Texas, and Georgia. The move doubles Margs’ distribution territory, expanding on the brand’s base of New Jersey, New York, and Florida. In Texas, distribution will be handled by Green Light Distribution, by Breakthru in Illinois, and by Savannah Distributing Company in Georgia. Margs comes in five flavors—Classic, Mango, Coconut, Mezcal, and Spicy—all sparkling and at 5% abv.
•Pennsylvania-based brewer Yuengling has expanded its flagship portfolio of beers into Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The company’s range includes Yuengling Traditional Lager, Light Lager, Golden Pilsner, and Flight by Yuengling, billed as a next-generation light beer. The three-state midwest launch builds on Yuengling’s existing 23-state footprint. Yuengling ranks as the ninth-largest beer marketer in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
