Italy’s Feudi di San Gregorio Targets The Upscale Rosé Segment

March 10, 2023

Italy’s Feudi di San Gregorio, part of the Terlato portfolio in the U.S. market, is among the leading players from the southern Campania region, known for wines like Falanghina Sannio, Fiano di Avellino, and Greco di Tufo that retail in the $20-$30 range. But the company’s most recent launch is targeting growth in the upscale rosé category.

CEO Antonio Capaldo told SND the company sees significant potential for Feudi di San Gregorio’s Visione Rosé, which retails at around the $32 mark. “We believe there is a market space for a quality premium Italian rosé in a category completely dominated by Provence,” he said, adding that the 100% Aglianico bottling has already gained traction in European markets like Italy, Germany, and the U.K.

Feudi di San Gregorio also expanded at the high end with a single-vineyard Greco di Tufo Cutizzi offering last year, positioned at $38. The U.S. is the winery’s top export market, with its offerings seeing growth across both the retail and restaurant channels in 2022, Capaldo said.—Daniel Marsteller
