The Macallan Strikes Deal With Sherry-Maker Grupo Estévez

The Macallan single malt Scotch whisky, part of the Edrington portfolio, has formed a new partnership with Grupo Estévez of Jerez, Spain, in what the company calls “a substantial investment that will ensure a sustainable supply of the highest quality sherry for The Macallan’s sherry-seasoned casks.”

While the tie-up gives Edrington an exclusive pipeline for the sherry-seasoned casks that play a key role in creating The Macallan, it will also see Estévez’s Valdespino brand of ultra-premium sherries and aperitifs added to the Edrington portfolio, “supported by the distribution and marketing capabilities of The Macallan in selected international markets,” the companies said. The Macallan had estimated U.S. volume of 240,000 cases last year, according to Impact Databank, continuing to rank among single malt’s leading labels.—Daniel Marsteller
