Southern Glazer’s Expands In Caribbean, Latin America With Webb Banks Deal

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits is expanding internationally with a new deal to acquire Miami-based Webb Banks—a distributor of premium wine and spirits in Latin America and the Caribbean—for an undisclosed sum. Expected to close by the end of the month, the purchase “expands Southern Glazer’s reach in the Atlantic and travel retail, and strengthens its logistical capabilities to deliver products more efficiently to complex markets in the region,” according to the company.

The business will continue to operate during a transition period under the Webb Banks name and management team, led by CEO Andy Consuegra. The Webb Banks team will report to Scott Oppenheimer, Southern Glazer’s president, East Region.

Webb operates in 34 markets with more than 200 distributor partners, handling brands including Tito’s, Jägermeister, Disaronno, Skrewball, WhistlePig, Ghost Tequila, Robert Mondavi, Stags’ Leap, Caymus, Penfolds, and Rodney Strong. “This acquisition provides another connection point for Southern Glazer’s and our valued suppliers who are looking for expert route-to-market capabilities across the Atlantic Basin,” said Oppenheimer.—Daniel Marsteller
