Duckhorn In Expansion Mode
May 5, 2023Duckhorn has acquired an unnamed North Coast California winery for $55 million. According to the company, the acquisition will bolster production capacity and provide it “with a fully operational and modern facility, with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment appropriate for premium wines.” The property also includes seven acres of planted Cabernet Sauvignon. The deal is expected to close in Duckhorn’s fiscal fourth quarter ending in July.
Additionally, Duckhorn is expanding in its home base of Napa Valley, gaining approval to build a new 58,000-square-foot winery and roughly double annual production at its site near St. Helena to 300,000 gallons (126,000 cases), while more than doubling its annual visitors to nearly 90,000 guests, the Napa Valley Register reported. The company’s Decoy by Duckhorn brand recently earned Impact “Hot Brand” honors after rising 10% to more than 1.4 million cases in the U.S. last year.—Daniel Marsteller
