•Whisky Advocate’s auction roundup for the first two weeks of May is highlighted by Sotheby’s, New York which sold a sole owner’s whisky collection that included the most complete set of Macallan Fine & Rare in a single auction. Called The Legacy Collection, it offered 56 bottles of Macallan Fine & Rare, with nearly 40 different expressions dating back to 1937. Some 42 bottles sold for a combined hammer price of $980,000. The highest hammer price in the sale went to a highly scarce bottle of Macallan Fine & Rare 1957, which fetched $160,000. Here’s the full story.

•Breakthru Beverage has appointed Nate Phippen as executive vice president for Colorado. Phippen takes on this new role after a successful stint, starting in 2014, as Breakthru’s EVP for Wisconsin. Phippen has nearly 30 years experience in the industry, also including as vice president for the Avant/Premier Division for Wirtz Beverage Illinois.

•Silver Screen Bottling, the company behind celebrity-licensed releases like Terry Bradshaw’s Bradshaw Bourbon and Alan Jackson’s Silverbelly Bourbon, among others, has acquired South Carolina’s Coastal Pure Beverage Solutions for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition will allow Silver Screen to bring more production in-house, adding Coastal’s 72,000 square-foot distillery, capable of producing 950,000 cases annually. Silver Screen describes the move as the next step on its path to grow into a “national, fully-functional, multi-vertical spirits brand.”

•Eugene, Oregon’s Wolf Spirits has expanded its partnership with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, bringing Wolf’s portfolio to Canada for the first time. The move into Canada sees Puncher’s Chance Bourbon and Tom of Finland vodka released to Liquor Control Board operated stores in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia. In addition to Canada, Southern Glazer’s is Wolf Spirit’s main distributor in the U.S.
