Ste. Michelle Intros Super-Premium Indian Wells Red Blend
July 2, 2012Washington’s Ste. Michelle Wine Estates is launching a new red blend under Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Indian Wells tier this month. A blend of Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Malbec, Cinsault and Mourvedre from Washington’s Columbia Valley, Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells Red Blend is now in national distribution at $18 a 750-ml.
While much of the growth in the U.S. wine market’s red blend segment has come in the $10-and-below segment, marketers have also begun to see opportunities for the category further up the pricing ladder. Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells Red Blend will compete with other recent super-premium red blend launches like Conundrum from Caymus ($20), Ghost Pines from Gallo ($19) and Evolution from Sokol Blosser ($18).
