After Valley Of The Moon Deal, WCWP Still Hunting For Acquisitions

August 23, 2012

Following its purchase of Valley of the Moon and Lake Sonoma from F. Korbel & Bros., West Coast Wine Partners (WCWP) tells Shanken News Daily the plan is to “keep our eyes open for future acquisitions, but of course we need to digest this one first.” WCWP partner Dan Zepponi says, “Our next look will be for something in Napa Valley with an estate vineyard likely. Beyond that, we believe in appellation-driven properties and will continue to look all the way along the West Coast from Santa Barbara to (Canada’s) Okanagan Valley.”

A deal in Napa could provide a home base for WCWP’s Napa-sourced Plume brand ($30 a bottle), a Cabernet Sauvignon whose first vintage (2009) was released in Canada and the U.S. earlier this year. Zepponi, a former Beringer executive, is partnered with Tony Stewart, whose family owns Canada’s Quails’ Gate Winery in the Okanagan Valley, in WCWP.
