Exclusive: Aveníu’s Piccini Introduces Prosecco, Red Blend Extensions

August 27, 2012

Tuscan producer Piccini Wines is expanding its portfolio into new territories with the launch of Piccini Prosecco and Memoro red blend, importer Aveníu Brands tells Shanken News Daily. Both will appear in the U.S. market in early 2013.

Piccini Prosecco will be priced at $15.99 a 750-ml. Memoro will be priced at $9.99, and made from 40% Primitivo, 30% Montepulciano, 20% Nero d’Avola and 10% Merlot. John Bradbury, Italian brand director at Aveníu Brands, estimates volume for each to reach approximately 10,000-20,000 cases over the fiscal full year ending next June. The two launches target younger LDA drinkers in particular, especially in the case of Piccini Prosecco, which is packaged in a bottle that features a bold orange color.

Bradbury estimates that the Piccini portfolio will near the 100,000-case mark in the U.S. over the fiscal year. In addition to its namesake brand, Piccini also produces the Fattoria Valiano, Villa al Cortile and Tenuta Moraia labels.

“We’ve been able to connect with some good, key accounts on Piccini,” Bradbury said. “The friend of this brand is primarily the major independent retailer, because of its message of making personal connections, as well as its value proposition. But we’re looking for chain distribution as well.”
