•Hershey, Pennsylvania’s Tröegs Brewery has relaunched its Dead Reckoning Porter fall seasonal. Described as an unfiltered and “aggressively-hopped” beer, Dead Reckoning is made with Pilsner, Caramel, Chocolate and Roasted malts, as well as Chinook and Vanguard hops. The 5.8%-abv offering, which began rolling out this month, will be available in 12-ounce bottles and 1/2-barrel kegs through October. Established in 1996 by brothers Chris and John Trogner, Tröegs Brewery produces six year-round beers and five seasonals, and has a current distribution footprint of eight states, including Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, New York, Ohio, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C.

•Napa’s Charbay Winery & Distillery has appointed Charles Henning managing director. Henning was previously managing director of the Culinary Institute of America. He’s also held leadership positions at Swissair-Swisshotel, The Boca Raton Resort and Club, The Walt Disney Company and The Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa among others. Charbay distills its own line of small-batch spirits including vodka, whiskey and rum, among others, as well as a range of wines and Port. It also imports super-premium Tequila Tapatio.

•Newport, Rhode Island-based Coastal Extreme Brewing Co. has added a third year-round offering to its flagship Newport Storm beer brand. The new addition, Newport Storm India Point Ale, is an IPA using five different hops, including locally sourced Rhode Island Chinook hops. Shipping September 1, India Point Ale joins Newport Storm’s existing year-round brews, Hurricane Amber Ale and Rhode Island Blueberry Ale. In addition to its brewing operations, Coastal Extreme also owns the Newport Distilling Co., which produces a single craft spirit, Thomas Tew Single Barrel Rum.

•Correction: In the August 24th edition of Shanken News Daily, it was incorrectly reported that Manny’s Lucille IPA was among the top-selling “growler” beers at 99 Bottles beer store in Federal Way, Washington. Manny’s Pale Ale and Lucille IPA are actually two individual brews—both produced by Seattle’s Georgetown Brewing Company.
