•Private equity firm KPS Capital Partners has reportedly put North American Breweries (NAB) on the auction block, says Reuters. Unnamed sources told the news outlet that NAB has been valued at around $400 million, but additional details on the private sale were unavailable at press time. Founded by KPS in 2009 and headquartered in Rochester, New York, NAB owns five craft-focused breweries, including the Rochester-based Genesee Brewery, Vermont’s Magic Hat brewery, Oregon-based MacTarnahan’s Brewing Co. and two breweries in Washington and California, which produce the Pyramid brand. NAB is also the exclusive U.S. importer and marketer for Costa Rica’s Imperial and Canadian brand Labatt, including its Labatt 52, Labatt Blue, Labatt Blue Light and Labatt Blue Light Lime expressions.

•Craft Tequila company Auténtico Tequila Alacrán is set to debut Auténtico Mezcal Alacrán, a joven mezcal produced with 100% agave espadín. Launching tonight in New York City, the 46%-abv offering is made in Oaxaca, Mexico using a traditional wooden oven and copper still, and packaged in a matte white 750-ml. bottle. It will initially be available on the East Coast and later expand to the West Coast and Texas. Priced at $48 a 750-ml., Auténtico Mezcal Alacrán joins the company’s flagship Auténtico Tequila Alacrán, a 40%-abv, 100%-agave white Tequila produced in Jalisco.
