October 19, 2012•Blanco, Texas-based Real Ale Brewing Co. has unveiled Brewers’ Cut, a new series of limited edition specialty brews. The range will debut with Real Ale’s Signature Hop Pale Ale, featuring German hop variety Herkules, with the second release being Black Quadrupel, a Belgian-style brew. Two additional expressions—Dry-Hopped Porter and Imperial Red Ale—are slated to follow. The Brewers’ Cut series will be available on draft and in 12-ounce bottles, with some editions also offered in 6-pack or 4-pack formats. Real Ale will gather feedback on the releases, and each Brewers’ Cut expression will have the chance to transition into a regular seasonal or year-round offering based on consumer input. Established in 1996, Real Ale Brewing currently produces seven year-round brews and eight seasonals, as well an experimental lineup, Mysterium Verum.
•Framingham, Massachusetts’s Jack’s Abby Brewing is adding two new lagers—Pumpkin Crop Lager and Kiwi Rising—to its fall seasonal portfolio. Made with fresh pumpkin and organic squash, Pumpkin Crop Lager is a 5.5%-abv offering blended with autumn spices, while Kiwi Rising is billed as an 8.5%-abv Double India Pale Lager, brewed with New Zealand hops. Concurrently, Jack’s Abby has announced plans to expand its brewing capacity. The brewer will be adding two 80-barrel tanks and one 40-barrel tank to its facility, bringing its capacity to more than 5,000 barrels. Founded early last year, Jack’s Abby Brewing offers a trio of year-round labels—Jabby Brau, Smoke & Dagger and Hoponius Union—as well as a variety of seasonals and specialty brews. Jack’s Abby offerings are distributed in Massachusetts by Arborway Imports.
