•San Francisco’s Triple Voodoo Brewing has launched Witopia, a new Belgian Witbier. Brewed with wheat and spiced with coriander, orange peel and ginger, the 5.5%-abv offering will be available on draft before the end of the month and in 22-ounce bottles by the end of November. Witopia follows Triple Voodoo’s recent launch of Grand Cru (9% abv), its first barrel-aged offering. Matured in Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels for three months, Grand Cru will soon be joined by a barrel-aged version of the brewer’s flagship Inception Belgian Triple, rolling out in limited quantities next month. Triple Voodoo’s offerings—which also include a pair of seasonal brews—are currently distributed throughout the state of California.

•Bend, Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery will launch a new year-round brew, Deschutes River Ale, next spring. It will be released in six-packs and on draft. Made with Cascade and Crystal hops, the beer is billed as having similar drinkability to a session ale. Deschutes River Ale joins a core lineup of Black Butte Porter, Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Inversion IPA, Green Lakes Organic Ale, Obsidian Stout and Chainbreaker White IPA. Deschutes Brewery, whose beers are currently available in 19 markets, recently added five new 1,300-barrel fermentation tanks to increase capacity with plans to add five more in 2013. Production capacity is expected to increase from the current 250,000 barrels a year to about 460,000 barrels. A second expansion phase—pushing capacity to 600,000 barrels—is slated to begin in 2014.
