November 19, 2012•Brooklyn Brewery has a fifth entry in its Worshipful Company of Brewers lineup: Winter Is Coming. Rolling out November 30, Winter Is Coming is a lightly smoked oatmeal stout created by brewer Tom Price. The 6%-abv brew will be available only at the Brooklyn Brewery tasting room. Established this year, the Worshipful Company series comprises limited-edition beers created by each brewer at Brooklyn Brewery. The offerings then compete to enter the brewery’s Brewmaster’s Reserve line, which features a new release every four months.
•MillerCoors’s Crispin Cider Co. is reintroducing Bird on a Wire, its whiskey cask-aged hard cider, ahead of the holidays. A blend of four apple wines, Bird on a Wire is matured in American rye and Bourbon casks and finished with Tupelo honey and fresh apple juice. The 6.9%-abv cider is in limited release, following previous barrel-aged entries Stagger Lee (aged in rye whiskey barrels) and The Jacket (aged in Tennessee whiskey barrels).
