Coppola Expansion Continues With Deal For Geyser Peak’s Vineyards And Winery
March 20, 2013Just a few years after completing a $30 million remodeling of its namesake Sonoma facility, Francis Ford Coppola Winery is again boosting production capacity, this time with the acquisition of the historic Geyser Peak Winery from Accolade Wines for an undisclosed sum.
Coppola’s acquisition includes Geyser Peak’s winery facilities and 32 acres of vineyards, but not the Geyser Peak brand, which Accolade will continue to produce at the site. Coppola acquired the property—valued at $35 million according to public records—from Kansas City, Missouri-based EPR Properties.
The deal will give Coppola additional capacity beyond that provided by its existing facility, the former Souverain winery, which has a 2-million-case bottling line and is permitted to process 10,000 tons of grapes. Coppola’s super-premium Diamond Collection, now at more than 770,000 cases, has been among the labels driving growth for the company.
