Italy’s Masi Moves From Folio To Kobrand
March 21, 2013Kobrand is adding the wines of highly regarded Italian producer Masi Agricola to its U.S. portfolio on an exclusive basis effective immediately. The new, “long-term” sales and marketing agreement will see Kobrand handle the Masi and Masi Tupungato brands as well as the group’s historic Serego Alighieri and Bossi Fedrigotti estates. Masi’s wines were previously imported by Folio Fine Wine Partners.
Based in Italy’s Veneto region, Masi is one of the leading producers of Amarone, made by the appassimento technique in which grapes are dried on bamboo racks prior to vinification. The group is still owned by the Boscaini family, which began producing wine in the Valpolicella area in the 18th century. Masi’s wines have garnered more than 35 90-plus scores from Wine Spectator over the years.
