ABI Making Moves In Mexico
April 26, 2013Just days after Anheuser-Busch InBev (ABI) received approval from the U.S. Department of Justice on its acquisition of the 50% of Grupo Modelo that it didn’t already own, the brewing giant is making moves in Mexico.
Yesterday, ABI completed the merger of Diblo (the holding company for Modelo’s operating subsidiaries) and Dirección de Fábricas (a local glass bottle manufacturer largely dedicated to Modelo) into Modelo’s operations.
ABI also announced that once its deal for all of Modelo is complete (closing is expected in June), Mexico will become its seventh regional zone. Operations there will be led by zone president Ricardo Tadeu, who is currently ABI’s business unit president for Brazil.
Modelo is Mexico’s largest brewer, with a market share of 57%, according to Impact Databank.
