June 5, 2013

•William Grant & Sons’ Glenfiddich single malt Scotch is introducing the 2013 edition of its Cask of Dreams series of whiskies this month. Cask of Dreams 2013 contains a selection of Glenfiddich whiskies aged in American oak barrels, with the youngest among them being 14 years old. Following selection, the whiskies were decanted into virgin American oak barrels to impart “an intense and powerful vanilla sweetness.” Glenfiddich Cask of Dreams 2013, of which only 6,650 bottles have been made available to the U.S., retails at $99 a bottle.

•Anheuser-Busch is extending distribution of its Draftmark home-draft system to several new markets. Initially launched in St. Louis only, A-B’s Draftmark system will now be available in Boston, Charlotte, Minneapolis, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Seattle, parts of Delaware, southern New Jersey and Kentucky. The Draftmark appliance—which A-B says takes up about the same amount of space as a “fridge-pack” of soda—retails around $50, with one-gallon refills typically priced between $13.99 and $15.99. Refills currently available include Bass Pale Ale, Budweiser, Michelob AmberBcok, ShockTop Belgian White, Goose Island Honker’s Ale and Goose Island IPA.

•Glazer’s has named David Aikens vice president, multicultural sales and marketing, effective June 1. Aikens, who most recently served as the company’s director of multicultural sales and marketing, will spearhead marketing and sales efforts targeted at African-American, Hispanic/Latino-American, Asian-American and GBLT populations. Prior to joining Glazer’s in 2011, Aiken held various advertising, distribution, promotions, marketing and business development positions, working with a diverse portfolio of clients in the beverage alcohol and consumer products industries.
