News Briefs for August 5, 2013
August 5, 2013•Beam Inc. has announced plans to build a new 600,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art distribution center in Frankfort, Kentucky. The facility is slated to open in the first quarter of 2015, and will be fully owned and operated by a third-party distribution and logistics provider (to be named early next year). All of Beam’s shipment volume out of Frankfort—currently around 12 million cases—will flow through the new facility, with Pinnacle vodka and Calico Jack volume to be transferred there as well. Additionally, Beam’s Bourbon exports out of Clermont, Kentucky will also be processed out of the new center once it opens. The announcement is the latest in Beam’s recent activity to invest behind its business in the state of Kentucky, including its Global Business Services Center in Louisville and its Global Innovation Center in Clermont.
