October 29, 2013•Gig Harbor, Washington-based Heritage Distilling is introducing a new offering, Elk Rider Blended Whiskey, in honor of its first anniversary. To be formally unveiled November 2, the new blended whiskey, made from local Northwest Washington ingredients, joins Elk Rider Vodka and Gin in the brand line. In addition to the Elk Rider range, Heritage also produces Commander’s Rye Whiskey, HDC Vodka, HDC Char Barrel Finished Vodka, HDC Soft Gin, Fall Classic Apple Cider Flavored Whiskey. The company’s brands are distributed in Washington and Oregon.
•Dogfish Head is lining up a switch to its winter seasonal, replacing Chicory Stout with Piercing Pils, which was formerly exclusive to its brewpub. At 6% abv, Piercing Pils is billed as a Czech-style pilsner brewed with pear juice, pear tea and Saaz hops. It will be launching in 4-packs of 12-ounce bottles and on draft December 1. Dogfish Head Chicory Stout isn’t being phased out entirely, but will be available on draft in limited quantities.
•Oregon’s Breakside Brewing is introducing two new brews, Wanderlust IPA and Autumn Gold. Made with Mosaic, Summit, Simcoe, Cascade, and Amarillo hops, Wanderlust is 6.6% abv. and is currently available in bottles in Oregon and Washington, with Idaho and British Columbia to come online shortly. The second year-round IPA in the Breakside line (following Breakside IPA), Wanderlust is intended mainly to service demand for the company’s beers in non-Oregon markets. Autumn Gold, a seasonal brew made exclusively with Centennial hops, is a draft-only hop-forward golden ale that will be distributed in Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia.
