•Production has begun at Ninkasi Brewing Company’s second brewing facility in hometown Eugene, Oregon, marking the fourth expansion in the brewery’s nearly eight years of operation. Ninkasi’s original 55-barrel brewhouse has the capacity to make 90,000 barrels a year, and the second 90-barrel facility across the street will add an initial 70,000 barrels with the capacity to grow to 250,000 after becoming fully on-line by May. The expanded operations will allow for a wider variety of beers to be produced and with longer fermentation times. Ninkasi partnered with Portland, Oregon’s sustainable solutions firm ecoReal Solutions to build the brewhouse with more efficient practices and a goal of achieving LEED standards.

•San Francisco, California’s 21st Amendment Brewery is re-releasing its Monk’s Blood dark Belgian-style ale, first introduced in 2009. Available now through the end of May, the 8.3%-abv offering is sold in cans and on draft in the brewery’s 17-territory distribution footprint. Monk’s Blood is brewed with eight malts and is part of 21st Amendment’s limited edition Insurrection Series available in four-packs.
