May 12, 2014•Vinexpo has confirmed the dates for its 2015 event in Bordeaux, which will be held Sunday, June 14 to Thursday, June 18. This year, Vinexpo is in Hong Kong for its biannual Asia-Pacific edition, which will take place this coming May 27-29. The wine and spirits showcase is also holding a new event in Japan this year, Vinexpo Nippon, which will run from November 1-2 in Tokyo and is designed specifically for the Japanese market.
•New York State’s Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards has formed a new sales and marketing agreement with WineWave. Under the partnership, WineWave will handle Hazlitt 1852’s Red Cat, White Cat, Cabin Fever and Bramble Berry wine and Cider Tree hard cider brands nationwide. Particular focus will be placed on expanding Red Cat, a Finger Lakes red wine that currently sells more than 200,000 cases across a 16-state footprint, as well as the winery’s newly-introduced Cider Tree entry, says WineWave president Jack Cacciato. Headquartered in Jericho, New York, WineWave’s import and marketing portfolio comprises roughly 15 Italian wine producers.
•Heineken USA has unveiled a new multiplatform marketing campaign for fast-growing Mexican import Tecate Light. The effort focuses on bicultural Hispanic men and includes both English- and Spanish-language television and radio ads and out-of-home elements. The 15-second TV spots will run in both languages under the English phrase “All the Taste. All the Glory.” on national networks such as El Rey, Mun2, Univision, Telemundo, Unimas, Galavision, Estrella TV, Fox Deportes, ESPN Deportes, Univision Deportes, Azteca and Nuvo TV. Outdoor and radio ads will be featured in key markets in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico. An Impact “Hot Brand,” Tecate Light grew 16% in volume last year to 2.3 million (2.25-gallon) cases.
