Southern Shakes Up Commercial Structure
May 29, 2014Southern Wine & Spirits (SWS) is revamping its commercial organizational structure, effective immediately. Under the new system, SWS senior vice president, sales & marketing Kevin Fennessey has been promoted to executive vice president, commercial strategy. Within the newly-created post, Fennessey will add commercial corporate initiatives, multicultural marketing and sales force effectiveness functions to his existing responsibilities, which include on- and off-premise national accounts, direct marketing and business intelligence.
Concurrently, Gerald Rivero, Jr.—executive vice president, general manager of SWS’s Coastal-Pacific Wine & Spirits (CPWS) unit, which exclusively handles Diageo and Moët Hennessy brands—has added control markets to his existing open market responsibilities. Bob Swartz, executive vice president, general manager for SWS’s dedicated Diageo-Moët Hennessy control states brokerage division, North American Spirits & Wine (NASW), will now report directly to Rivero, placing oversight of all Southern’s Diageo and Moët Hennessy business under the CPWS umbrella.
Brad Vassar, Southern’s executive vice president and COO, is expected to announce additional appointments—including a new commercial finance role—within the next few months.
