Rémy Cointreau Names Chapoulaud-Floquet As CEO

June 10, 2014

Rémy Cointreau has appointed Valérie Chapoulaud-Floquet as CEO. Chapoulaud-Floquet, who will report to Rémy Cointreau chairman François Hériard Dubreuil, joins the company with more than two decades of experience in the luxury goods industry. After spending more than 20 years with the L’Oréal Group, where she held various executive positions in Asia, Europe and North America, Chapoulaud-Floquet joined Louis Vuitton in 2008, where she held key posts in Europe and Asia before becoming president and CEO of the Americas region.

François Hériard Dubreuil had been acting as CEO in a transitional role since Frédéric Pflanz resigned after holding the position for just a few months. Pflanz had succeeded Jean-Marie Laborde as CEO of Rémy Cointreau on October 1, 2013, having spent three years as the company’s CFO. Pflanz stepped down in January, but stayed with Rémy in a different role.

Rémy has struggled amid China’s luxury goods slowdown, which has severely hampered its flagship Rémy Martin Cognac. The company’s net sales declined by 11% on an organic basis to €1 billion ($1.4b) in its fiscal year ending in March.
