July 31, 2014•New York City’s Brooklyn Brewery is looking to expand with a new brewing facility to support strong growth both in the U.S. and abroad. The company has filed a proposal for construction of a new brewery with the New York State Regional Economic Development Council, with the council designating it a priority project. The proposal includes plans for a new 200,000-square-foot production facility in the New York metro area, possibly on Staten Island, Law360 reports. The new facility would cost about $70-$80 million, with financial support possibly given at the state level following the regional council’s support. The company, which opened its brewery in Brooklyn in 1996, also brews in Utica, New York, and says it’s considering the move to a larger facility in response to double-digit growth in the U.S. and 60% export growth.
