Indiana’s Big Red Liquors Completes Move Into Kentucky

February 4, 2015

Big Red Liquors recently completed the acquisition of three package liquor stores in Bowling Green, Kentucky, marking its first expansion outside of Indiana. Last month’s acquisition of three Chuck’s Liquor Outlets from LOR Corp.—terms of which were not released—brings Big Red’s total store count to 55 locations in Indianapolis, southern Indiana and Bowling Green.

The newly acquired stores—Chuck Evans Liquor Outlet, Chuck’s Wine & Spirits and Chuck’s of Hartland—will continue to operate under the Chuck’s banner. LOR was also the previous owner of United Package Liquors, the Indianapolis-based chain that was acquired by Big Red in 2013. Big Red Liquors was founded by Mark McAlister in 1972, and according to SND sister publication Market Watch magazine, its annual sales revenues have grown to approximately $50 million.
