Craft Brewing and Distilling News for March 5, 2015
March 5, 2015•Portland, Maine’s Peak Organic Brewing Company is eyeing the growing trend of sessionable beers with its latest release of Peak Nitro Stout. The 4.7%-abv stout is a blend of local Pale, Wheat, Black, Crystal 60, Munich and Chocolate malts and features a toasted black malt flavor and airy mouthfeel, the company says. The latest malt-focused offering is meant to complement Peak Organic’s current portfolio of hop-forward craft beers, which includes Summer Session, Fresh Cut and the Saison series. Peak Nitro Stout is available this spring nationwide on draft only.
•San Francisco, California-based Anchor Brewing Company is bringing back its Anchor Saison Spring Ale, which first debuted as a limited release in March 2014. The Belgian-style ale (7.2% abv) is created with locally cultured saison-style yeast with the addition of California lemongrass, lemon peel and ginger for herbal spiciness and citrus flavors, the company says. The beer’s label was inspired by beer- and fruit-crate labels from the late 1800s and features an original hand-colored 1873 lithograph of the Golden Gate Bridge. Anchor Saison Spring Ale is available nationwide in six-packs and on draft.
