City Winery Launching In Atlanta And Boston, As Quest For National Presence Continues Apace
March 6, 2015City Winery group is expanding to Atlanta, where it expects to launch in September, according to company sources. The next location after Atlanta is slated to be Boston, which should open either late this year or during the first half of 2016. “We have at least a half-dozen more cities under consideration beyond that,” said senior company executive in an interview with SND.
City Winery already has combination winery/restaurant/music venues in New York, Chicago, Napa and Nashville, with custom-bottling of wines at each. The company has said it could one day own as many as 40 locations. City Winery continues to be run by its founder, Michael Dorf, who gained fame years ago as the owner of the Knitting Factory, a once-popular entertainment venue in downtown Manhattan.
