Control State Spirits Sales Up 2% Through March
April 23, 2015Spirits case sales in control states grew 2.1% year-to-date, with shelf dollars up 4.7% for the period, according to NABCA. Rolling 12-month wine volume through March was up 2.2%, compared with +1.4% through February, and spirits volume during that period grew 2.6% with shelf dollars increasing 5.3%. In March, the Irish whiskey category—which has a 1% share of the control states spirits market—grew at the fastest rate with a 10.5% increase, while vodka—with a 35% share—grew 2.5% last month. Nine-liter wine case sales were up 5% in March in control states.
