May 22, 2015•Moët Hennessy USA is set to launch a new special edition under its Ardbeg single malt Scotch whisky brand at the end of this month. Forbes reports that the new Islay single malt entry, which is launching in recognition of Ardbeg’s 200th anniversary this year, is called Perpetuum and will retail at $100 a bottle. Ardbeg’s latest special edition is non-chill filtered and bottled at 47.4% abv.
•Brown-Forman has elected Augusta Brown Holland and Stuart R. Brown to the company’s board of directors, effective immediately. Both are fifth-generation descendants of founder George Garvin Brown. Holland is currently a developer and founding partner at Haystack Partners LLC, while Brown serves as managing partner of private equity fund Typha Partners LLC and president of charitable group Dendrifund Inc. Holland and Brown join existing family members Sandra A. Frazier, Martin S. Brown Jr. and Geo. Garvin Brown IV on the Brown-Forman board.
•Tickets have gone on sale for the 9th annual Sonoma Wine Country Weekend, taking place over the Labor Day weekend (September 4-6). Wine Spectator has named the event one of the three top charitable wine auctions. Funds raised go to supporting youth and children’s charities, safeguarding the local environment and improving health and welfare of local communities. Last year, more than $3 million was raised for local charities, with more than $16 million invested to-date in 125 local Sonoma County organizations. The Sonoma Wine Country Weekend is co-produced by the Sonoma County Vintners and Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Alliance.
