Oskar Blues Boosting Production In North Carolina Amid Eastern Expansion
June 22, 2015Colorado’s Oskar Blues Brewery is increasing capacity at its Brevard, North Carolina brewery, which first opened in December 2012, the Asheville Citizen-Times reports. The expansion is expected to increase production from about 85,000 barrels of beer this year to an eventual 210,000 barrels. Upgrades will include a 9,000-square-foot wastewater treatment building, a 17,000-square-foot addition for fermentation tanks, a spent-grain silo, kitchen and offices. Construction is expected to be completed in six months.
Oskar Blues is available in 44 states—with the Brevard facility handling production for 20 of those—and recently entered West Virginia and Arkansas. The company says sales of its craft beer line—which includes Dale’s Pale and Mama’s Little Yella Pils—have recently grown about 30% a year.
