July 6, 2015•South Africa’s Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky, part of the Distell portfolio, is set to enter the U.S. market for the first time this month. Produced by Wellington, South Africa-based James Sedgwick Distillery, Bain’s is a 100% single-grain whisky, made with corn and aged using first-fill Bourbon casks. The premium offering, which retails at around $29.95, will initially be available in Illinois, Minnesota and Missouri, with further U.S. expansion slated for the fall. Bain’s Cape will be imported by Distell Imports.
•California importer and marketer The San Francisco Wine Exchange (SFWE) has added four family-owned wineries to its portfolio. The new additions include Vista da Régua of Douro, Portugal; De Bortoli Wines of Yarra Valley, Australia; Eugenio Collavini of Friuli, Italy; and Experience of Napa Valley, California. They join Argentina’s Andeluna, California’s David Bruce Winery and McCay Cellars and New Zealand’s Wild Earth Vineyards, among others, in SFWE’s existing stable.
